New CHS Forestry Team Fifth in Scio

SAWING THEIR WAY TO FOURTH PLACE, David Adkinson and Megan Strong participated in the Jack and Jill double buck competition at Scio High School’s forestry competition on Nov. 7.  The newly-formed Clatskanie High School (CHS) forestry team brought 48 students to the event, which had seven other participating schools. CHS took fifth place overall, despite having to leave the event early.

Ryan Froke and Sawyer Weldon placed third in the double buck and fifth in cable splicing.

Katie Burgher placed first in the speech competition. Burgher and Strong took fourth in Jill and Jill crosscut and third in the Jill and Jill cable splice.

Lynn Siltala and Arlee Nosack placed third in the Jill and Jill crosscut.

Other CHS placings were: Dustin Luquette, fifth, compass and pacing; Alan Skirvin, third, tree climb; Cody Johnson, fourth, tree climb, and Calen Warren and Skirvin, fifth, crosscut. Photo Courtesy of Jeff Skirvin
