WHO READS THE CHIEF

THE CHIEF has a paid circulation of over 2,850. Centered in Clatskanie in
Northern Columbia County, just 10 miles from the Clatsop County line, the
CHIEF enters approximately 2,200 households in the Lower Columbia area each
week. Using an average of 3-4 persons per household, our newspaper reaches
6,000 to 8,000 potential customers of Lower Columbia area businesses. The
CHIEF is the newspaper of record for the cities of Clatskanie and Rainier,
and the Clatskanie and Rainier School Districts. Our complete coverage of
board meetings, policies and school and community activities attracts
hundreds of readers. The CHIEF also offers in-depth reporting on the
Clatskanie PUD, Clatskanie and Rainier fire districts,
Port of St. Helens and local law enforcement agencies.

WHY ADVERTISE IN THE CHIEF

It is the mission of the CHIEF to cover the people, places and events of
Northern Columbia County and Eastern Clatsop County more intimately and far
more completely than any other newspaper could or would. The fact that about
600 copies of the CHIEF are mailed weekly to former Clatskanie area
residents around the region, nation and world is testimony that this
³hometown² newspaper is like an old family friend to most of its readers.
CHIEF subscribers do not scan its headlines, then toss it on the recycling
pile. CHIEF stories and pictures are carefully scrutinized for the names and
faces of relatives and friends; news articles are read closely because they
deal only with issues that have a direct impact on the residents of the
Lower Columbia area. Because most subscribers keep and read their CHIEF over
a weekıs time or more, advertisements are seen repeatedly.

ADVERTISING IS A BARGAIN IN THE CHIEF

By advertising in the CHIEF, you will be showing our readers that you are
interested in their communities and in serving them. Our rates of $6 per

than most other forms of advertising.
