Tiger Athletes Compete at Regis Twilight

Clatskanie High School (CHS) track and field athletes traveled to Stayton for the Regis Twilight Meet Friday, May 9.

Individual boys results for CHS were:

100 meters: Codi Blodgett, sixth, 11.66; Chris Puckett, 24th, 12.52.

200 meters: Blodgett, second, 23.69; Puckett, ninth, 25.18.

400 meters: Isaac Points, 22nd, 59.25.

Tigers Defeat Columbians 2-1, 6-3 in Doubleheader

The Clatskanie Tigers baseball team hosted a doubleheader against Rainier Monday, May 12, and defeated the Columbians 2-1 and 6-3, to maintain the eighth place in the Oregon School Activities Association’s (OSAA) 3A ranking and clinching a second place in league and a berth in the state playoffs.

Game one was a pitchers duel between Rainier senior Nayt Taylor and Clatskanie junior German George.

The Tigers scored first in the second inning on a double by Griffin Haas. A run batted in (RBI) double by Nick Donaldson in the third inning added another run.

German George pitched seven innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven batters.

“The Tigers had excellent defensive help from Mica Karber and Colten Puzey,” said Coach Ryan Tompkins.

Griffin Haas had two hits.

Rainier’s Jeff Tripp had the Columbian’s one RBI.

Rainier took a 2-1 lead in the third inning of game two, after a pair of defensive mistakes by the Tigers.

The Columbians extended their lead to 3-1 until the bottom of the sixth.

Clatskanie scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 6-3 victory. In the rally, Trevor Berg hit a single and Thomas Shelby walked. Job Karber hit a double. Back-to-back singles by Colten Puzey and German George sealed the victory.

M. Karber got the win, pitching seven innings, allowing five hits, one earned run, one walk. He struck out seven runners.

Coach Tompkins said, “Colten Puzey had huge games, going 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.”

RHS Athletes Compete in Ridgefield

Rainier track and field athletes traveled to Ridgefield Wash. for the Spudder Track & Field Classic Friday, May 9.

Individual boys results for Rainier were:

200 meters: Jordan Brittain, 12th, 25.06.

400 meters: Brian Guisinger, 11th, 55.01.

800 meters: Guisinger, sixth, 2:09.5; Bryan Falls, 10th, 2:12.04.

3200 meters: Jared Thomas, 12th, 11:00.79.

Saylors Pitches 10-0 Win
