Cardinals announce Mike Shannon Sports Journalism Fellowship – Newstalk KZRG
ST. LOUIS, Missouri, February 25, 2022 – The St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Press Club today announced the creation of the Mike Shannon Sports Journalism Fellowship.
The $5,000 scholarship will be awarded annually, starting this year, to a full-time student pursuing or intending to pursue a degree leading to a career in sports journalism, with preference given to students in the metropolitan area of the two states of St. Louis.
“I am grateful to the St. Louis Press Club and the Cardinals organization for establishing a scholarship fund in my name for aspiring sports journalism students,” said Cardinals Hall member Mike Shannon. of Famer.
“St. Louis has a rich history of producing some of the most talented sports writers and broadcasters in the industry and I look forward to helping the next wave of men and women pursue their dreams of a career in sports journalism.
A panel of judges from the St. Louis Press Club and members of the Shannon family will select the scholarship recipient based on ability, interest in pursuing a career in sports journalism, academic performance and financial need.
