FAMU journalism students debut 2019 Homecoming Special tonight, Saturday
Those planning their calendar year around the homecoming of Florida A&M University will be able to replay “The Experience” of 2019 on Friday and Saturday nights on FAMU TV 20.
About 40 students from the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication worked on the production of the program.
It airs Saturday at 10 p.m. on Comcast Channel 20.
The special focuses on FAMU’s 132-year history through the scenes and voices of Reunion Week, which ran from September 29 to October 5.
This year’s presenters were broadcast journalism students Avery Jacobs, Ruelle Fludd, Tiffany Bui, Raiyana Malone, Vanessa Lawrence and Sherneka Streater.
The special was produced by Vanessa Lawrence, Ruelle Fludd and Stanley Danzey, a recent graduate of the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication.
âSeeing how excited everyone was to participate and apply their knowledge to bring the Homecoming Special to life was my favorite part of the experience,â said Fludd.
The show will recap the Comedy Show, Coronation, Gospel Concert, No Housing Show, and Greek Footstep Show.
âThere has been a lot of hard work and effort on this special and I hope what we have created really resonates with our viewers and our audience. They will have a blast,â said Lawrence.
The Homecoming special debuted in 1997 under the direction of broadcast journalism professor Kenneth Jones.
âThis is one of the strongest stages we’ve produced and probably the best mix of freshmen to seniors we’ve had in a long time,â said Jones.
